Pillows in Fashion

Is there a rule when it comes to fashion or styling yourself the way you want? Well, there is no such thing! Ever since covid19 started, most of us are quarantined in a lockdown. Many of us started to feel bored and uncomfortable to stay at home. So we started to invent challenges and one of the most interesting and exciting challenges I came across was #pillowchallenge also known as #qurantinepillowchallenge and #pillowdresschallenge.

The challenge is to take a large pillow and cover the front part of your body and put a belt around yourself so that the pillow won’t fall. ( But unfortunately, the back would be open!). Many celebrities started doing this challenge as it was fascinating, they also used bedspreads to make frills and skirts to get this challenge more interesting. You can add any amount of pillows you want. Some useful accessories such as heels and bags made this challenge more stylish.

Later on another challenge called #bedsheetdress was invented. Here, many who weren’t interested in the #pillowchallenge wrapped a bedsheet around themselves in different ways. These challenges were not only done by women but also by men, kids and pets. This challenge has become one of the strangest viral trends on Facebook, Instagram, and Tik-Tok.

Transforming bedding into fashionable outfits were done in the past as well, it’s just that we weren’t aware of it. Viktor & Rolf did a Bedtime theme fashion show collection in 2005 ready-to-wear. They also did a similar fashion show in 2018. Models came out with frilly pillows Behind their head and pants quilted like a bedspread. Links to the fashion show is attached below.

Social media challenges keep us busy during quarantine I would say. This Pillow challenge might become an upcoming fashion trend in the future as it has been in the past.
