01. Initially, Victoria\’s Secret focused on men as their target market 

Victoria\’s Secret has an interesting story behind the brand. It was founded by an American businessman named Roy Raymond. He felt embarrassed to buy lingerie for his wife at the department stores available at the time. So he thought of starting up a lingerie store where men can feel at ease buying lingerie for women.  Therefore, the store design and the marketing campaigns, at initial stages were aimed at men during the initial stages.

02. Who is Victoria?

Victoria\’s Secret might make you think that the brand Victoria\’s Secret may be associated with someone named \”Victoria\”. There is no person related to the brand in that name. The name Victoria\’s Secret was chosen to invoke the prestige associated with the English Victorian era. Also, the initial stores had the interior designed inspired by the English Victorian Era.

03. Fake Headquaters !

When its founder Roy Raymond first opened up the Victoria\’s Secret store in USA, he listed an address in London as its headquarters which did not exist. Now that\’s a cunning business tactic !

04. Angels or Athletes ?

Victoria\’s Secret models are a big part of the brand and its image when it comes to Victoria\’s Secret. Not surprisingly the Victoria\’s Secret models make a big commitment trying to stay in perfect shape all the time. They spend a huge portion of time working out and working out is a part of their job.

05. The Brand has new owners now ! 

Victoria Secret has been bought by a private equity firm called Sycamore Partners for 525 million dollars on February 20, 2020. Its previous owner was a company called L-Brands who had Les Wexner as its Chairman and CEO. Les Waxner too bought the brand from its initial founder Roy Raymond.

The new owners have made several changes to the brand including the inclusion of models of varying shapes and colours as opposed to the super thin supermodels as before !
