I had no plans of starting to write restaurant reviews, but when I chose to go out for dinner, I noticed that there were only a few sites with reviews written on restaurants inside the hotel on most of the social media platforms.
As we walked into Yi Jing at ITC Ratnadipa, the customer service was outstanding. They greet you on one floor and then take you to another floor via a lift. As soon as you step out of the lift, you can see a live dumplings station; and if you’re lucky, you might be able to snag a seat near the live kitchen. When I say live kitchen, don’t worry, it’s not noisy at all; rather opposite.
I believe that the greatest time to go and have a meal is at night since the view is magnificent and provides a romantic setting.
We were greeted with a cup of Jasmine Tea, which was both sweet and aromatic. As we received our menus, the server was generous enough to inform us that all meals could easily be shared by two individuals.
Unfortunately, I did not take any photographs of the food, but it was a satisfying dinner with freshly prepared dumplings and hand made noodles. We enjoyed the meals just as much as we enjoyed spending time together.
You won’t find your typical fried rice with sweet and sour chicken and chili paste here, but the cuisine is outstanding and authentic. I would certainly return to have more dumplings. I’ve tried the cuisine at Shang Palace at Shangri-La in Colombo, but when it comes to pricing and flavor, Yi-JIng comes out ahead.
