“Is Day-Jamas The New Trend”

In 2025, will Day-Jamas be a must-have style? Even though I have an understanding of what Day-Jamas are, as a fashion designer who is constantly on the hunt for new trends, my inquisitive mind wanted to discover what Day-Jamas would signify according to Google. Wikitionary defines Day-Jamas as clothing that resembles pyjamas and is acceptable for the day.

Multipurpose and versatile pieces is starting to be a trend. As luggage costs and size limits has become more restrictive, consumers seek adaptable item that cater to a wide range of uses. Therefore, consumers has started to prioritize pyjama sets that can be worn during the day and on vacation or to work.

According to CNN Style e-commerce data, one of the best-performing holiday purchasing categories was pyjamas.  

The pyjamas study covers 20 countries and it include a segment analysis of each country in terms of value ($Billion) for the projected period 2024-2034.

WGSN’s head of women’s wear Sara Maggioni, has written an email to CNN statin that “That’s not because we are all spending more time in bed when on vacation. But because sleepwear items are now seen as hyper-useful, multi-functional items for vacationers. It’s this versatility that makes them a winning item in a world where luggage fees are becoming more and more expensive.” CNN also spotted “Game of Thrones” star Sophie Turner in the Côte d’Azur wearing a set of blue and white striped pajamas; while model Joan Smalls wore a black and white pair out in Milan.

It is seen that fashion brands such as Province of Canada has jumped on the the Day-Jamas trend and introducing their collection ‘Almost Pyjamas’. Wg

The S/S25 catwalk designs have been influenced by this trend, which was initially launched in 2017 under the hashtag #pyjamaDressing, according to WGSN. Brands such as Chanel, Lebor Gabala, Lacoste, Emporio Armani and many other brands has been a part of the S/S25, #pyjamaDressing trend.

According to a research done by WGSN, below shows the % that teen sleepwear that has been browsed or bought according to the situation.

Wearing Day-Jamas from #DayToNight and #CityToBeach allows them to move seamlessly from indoor to outdoor settings. Will this trend eventually supplant other emerging styles like denim?
