One of my favourite cafes to visit is Caramel Pumpkin and its because of the amazing food they have. One of my greatest joys was going through the menu, which had an unusual wordplay. It\’s a place that I usually go to work or to hangout with my friends.

Drinks

Too Good To Be True

I ordered my go to drink, which is named as \’too good to be true\’. It is a chocolate milkshake with Nutella and hot chocolatiers fudge. It truly lives up to its name . It is lightly frothy and every sip makes me want more and more. (LKR 680)

Fun fact- The first known printed reference to a “milkshake” dates back to 1885 and contains whiskey as one ingredient. For medicinal purposes only (wink wink). Milkshakes got their name from being served in bars. If the customer enjoyed the milkshake, he shook hands with the bartender. If not, the bartender didn’t get a tip.

Cappuccino

Coffee is consumed by almost everyone , everywhere, making it the most beloved beverage after water. It’s worth is over $100 billion worldwide. Well I am not a coffee person to be honest but my partner is. He ordered a cappuccino and asked me to try it. The cappuccino was so full of cream and it was very well balanced. It was the second best drink of course after the milkshake. (LKR 490)

Fun facts – Beethoven was such an ardent coffee lover that he’d count 60 beans per cup before making his brew. Also ,in ancient Arab culture, a woman could  divorce her husband if he did not provide  her  with enough coffee. Not to ruin your appetite , but the most expensive coffee is made by cat poop. \”Kopi Luwak” is the most expensive coffee in the world.  It comes from Indonesia and is made from beans digested from the Asian Palm Civet. In other words, it comes from cat poop.  It sells for €350 and up per kilo!

Food

Better Than Kayefcee

This is one of my favourite dishes. As I said before the name always represents the food at caramel pumpkin. This crispy chicken is topped with a sweet chilly powder more like paprika, which makes it not too spicy. It is enjoyable without having to sip water here and there. It comes with a ranch based mayo which is very creamy. When you order you can get it from any portion you want : small (LKR 630), medium (LKR 1250) or large (LKR 1750).

Summer Salad

Such a healthy yet colourful dish ! Every bite has a fresh crunch that you crave for in a salad. It had ice-burg lettuces (my personal favourite), capsicum and had a drizzle of citrus, garlic dressing and some herb croutons. You can choose your protein source which is a costomizable – grilled prawn (LKR 840), chicken (LKR 750) and roast beef (LKR 850).

The staff at caramel pumpkin is so friendly and is very helpful. I would always recommend it to anyone who wants to go out and chill with a friend while having a sip of coffee or a place to do your work peacefully as it is very spacious and has charging points for your ease.
